Manchester has been blessed with a heatwave this week, which has seen many flocking to the city's pubs and beer gardens to soak up the sun with a nice cold pint or cocktail. It might be tempting for some to whip their shirt off to keep cool - but Wetherspoon say their customers aren't allowed.
The UK pub chain has around 850 pubs across the country. This includes a number in the city centre such as Piccadilly, The Seven Stars, The Moon Under Water and The Waterhouse.
And while Wetherspoons is well-known for its cheap food and beer and laid-back approach, it still has a dress code, Devon Live reports.

In all of their pubs, customers are not allowed to remove shirts or footwear as a matter of hygiene – and some of its pubs have even stricter rules, such as no football shirts, no sportswear or no trainers. If you break the rules, you could be refused entry or service.
On its website, the company states: “The majority of our pubs are family environments so we ask our customers to dress appropriately and in a way which would not cause offence to the public. All customers must be fully clothed throughout their visit. The company does not permit the removal of shirts or footwear.
“In addition, some pubs operate specific dress codes at all or certain times. For information on these requirements, speak directly to the team of the pub you wish to visit.”
Last year, a Wetherspoon customer made national headlines after she said she was thrown out of the pub in Reading for wearing an “inappropriate” top. She claimed a manager refused to serve her because of the amount of cleavage on show.
So it’s best to have a shirt or T-shirt close at hand at all times, if there’s any chance you’ll decide to make an impromptu visit to the pub this summer.
