Westlife issue world tour and new album update after 'parting ways' with record label

Westlife have promised an "exciting new chapter" after revealing they had parted ways with record company EMI.

The Irish band announced on Monday night that a mutual decision was made to part ways with the label.

And in a statement the band teased a new album and a new world tour that will take them to America for the first time.

They said: "Hi everyone. We hope you are all safe and well. We have some big news we'd like to share with you.

"Due to a change of leadership and a breakdown of contractual negotiations, we have party company with EMI records by mutual consent.

"We enjoyed our time with the label and are very proud of the huge success we achieved together, including out no.1 album 'Spectrum' and we're humbled to be the label's biggest selling UK signed artist of the year."

Adding: "This change now allows us to embark on a very exciting new chapter.

"The next 18 months are shaping up to be our biggest yet including a groundbreaking global partnership which we will be announcing imminently.

"We can also reveal we have started work on our brand new album due for release later this year."
