Westbrook has most go-ahead field goals in the NBA over last 3 seasons

The brilliance of Russell Westbrook was on full display Sunday night.

As the Thunder entered the fourth quarter against the Memphis Grizzlies down by eight points, the team needed a spark to avoid a season-worst five-game losing streak.

Oklahoma City faced its largest deficit of 13 points with 6:34 left in the game. The team then reeled off a 23-6 run to win the game with Westbrook accounting for 12 of those points. He outscored the Grizzlies by himself during that span.

Westbrook drained a 3-pointer to tie the game up at 93 apiece with just 1:04 left. On the ensuing possession, Westbrook hit a 19-footer to give OKC its first lead since the 3:16 mark of the second quarter.

The go-ahead shot by Westbrook was the 15th for him over the past three seasons, the most in the NBA during that span, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The Thunder haven’t needed to rely too much on Westbrook this season for clutch shots as that burden has mostly fallen on Paul George. But with George out of the game, Westbrook stepped up to save the team.

Westbrook has certainly hit huge shots throughout the course of his career and it was likely exciting for Thunder fans to once again see The Brodie drain another clutch shot on Sunday.
