A woman who died after being hit by a car just outside a West Lothian village days before Christmas has been named.
Gillian Mitchell suffered fatal injuries when she was knocked down on the A71 near Wilkieston on Thursday, December 16.
The 65-year-old, from nearby Kirknewton, passed away following the early morning incident shortly after 7am.
A 20-year-old man driving a blue Ford Fiesta also involved in the collision was unharmed.
Local police have since launched an appeal to trace a passing motorcyclist travelling eastbound on the A-road who may have witnessed the crash and have asked anyone with information to come forward and share it with investigating officers.
Sergeant Peter Houston said police were particularly interested to hear from drivers with dashboard mounted cameras who may have captured the collision on film.
He added: “I am appealing for anyone who may have been on the A71 around the time of the incident to contact us.
"I would ask motorists with dash cam devices to check their footage as it could provide us with significant details which would assist our investigation.

"I would like to ask the motorcyclist to get in touch with us, although I do wish to stress the rider is not believed to have been involved in the incident but may have information which could be vital in our enquiries.”
