West Lothian's salute to heroes on Armed Forces Day

West Lothian gave a salute to local veterans  at this year’s Armed Forces Day.

The event was held in Livingston on Sunday attracted crowds of supporters who enjoyed displays and activities, including weapons, uniform and an inflatable paintball range, all provided and supported on the day by 278 (Lowland) Battery 105 Regiment Royal Artillery, 6SCOTS and 243 Provost Company 1 Royal Military Police.

There was also an inflatable assault course provided and managed by the West Lothian Army Cadet Force.

This year’s Cadet Force Challenge, which is sponsored by the Royal British Legion Scotland Livingston Branch, was managed by L/Cpl Burgess, a PTI from 6SCOTS, and was won by Queensferry and District Sea and Marine Cadets this year.

All of the young people, from the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, RAF Cadets and Police Scotland Youth Volunteers put in excellent effort.

The excellent entertainment was organised by Stuart McLean, provided by local musicians and managed on the day by Capt Peter Adams RN and included performances by Meaghan Banks, John Donaghue, Jodi Findlay, Amy Hawthorn, Becky McLean, Ben Inglis, Grace Roberts and Jason Sweeney.

Organiser Karen Elliot said: “Many thanks to all who made this such a fantastic event, including, but not limited to, all the Military, cadets, veterans, participants, performers, information stall holders, and the community who came along to show their support.

“Also, many thanks to West Lothian Council for their ongoing support of HM Armed Forces and the wider Armed Forces Family and our annual West Lothian Armed Forces Day.”
