West Lothian B&B appears on Four in a Bed and all guests said the same thing

A West Lothian B&B was thrust into the spotlight on Monday after appearing on the hit show, Four in a Bed.

Known to be a popular programme on Channel 4, the series follows around three or four B&Bs as they compete to be crowned as the best in the business.

Staying at each other's venues, each pair gives a thorough review of their night, and can also choose how much of the price they actually pay.

Often getting quite competitive, the Star and Garter took on the challenge this week as they went head to head with three other B&Bs from around Scotland.

With the first of this week's four episodes airing on Monday (February 7), the Star and Carter hotel were the first of the group to host and entertain the guests for the night.

Run by Denise and her daughter Karina, the family welcomed the other couples to Linlithgow, with the rooms ranging from £95 to £120 a night with breakfast included.

Priding themselves on being a high quality B&B, the pair managed to get through the couple's room inspections relatively unscathed, with only a few minor complaints such as a dirty window sash.

After taking the group for a historic outing to St Michael's church, they were also praised for the good night's sleep most seemed to have, although there was a few small issues with wifi.

However, the thing that really seemed to get the group talking was the breakfasts - and all of the guests were saying the exact same thing.

Claiming to put on a really good spread, the Star and Garter more than lived up to expectations, with Karina's partner and sister cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

The breakfast was well-received (Channel 4)

With guest Dani stating it was "evident the girls have been brought up in the hospitality industry", both the continental and cooked breakfasts were up to scratch.

Serving up dishes such as a full Scottish fry up, eggs Benedict and pancakes and bacon, they were all said to be "quality" and "excellent".

Although how much the guests paid is still to be revealed later in the week, the Star and Garter received top marks for their hosting and breakfasts, with two of the other B&Bs saying they would stay there again.

With the three other B&B stays still to be aired, the group are also set to visit B&B owner Craig in Edinburgh later on in the week.

You can watch Four in a Bed on Channel 4 or on catch up on All 4.
