A man from west London has been arrested on suspicion of breaching airspace restrictions in Windsor with drone ahead of President Donald Trump’s state visit.
Police have put a ban in place for the next three days on aircraft – including drones – using the air around Windsor, which is the main venue for Trump’s trip.
A heavy police presence is in place around Windsor Castle ahead of his arrival and a “high threat level” has been declared ahead of substantial protests expected on Wednesday.
At lunchtime on Tuesday, Thames Valley Police announced that a man is currently in custody after being suspected of breaching the airspace restrictions with a drone.
“Today, a 37-year-old man from Brentford, London was arrested at Windsor Great Park for flying a drone that breached an airspace restriction order,” the force said in a statement.

“The incident is being investigated under aviation legislation, and the man remains in police custody.
“This serves as a reminder that airspace restrictions are currently in place for the state visit of President of the United States of America Donald Trump, and any breaches will be dealt with robustly.
“Between 16–18 September, a temporary airspace restriction is in effect over and around Windsor, covering all aircraft, including drones.”

Airspace restrictions have also been put in place over Chequers, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s official residence, where Trump is also due to visit.
The trip represents a “unprecedented” second state visit to the UK for a US President, and was announced shortly after Trump re-entered the White House.
It is also seen as part of a concerted effort by Starmer’s government to steer clear of the worst excesses of Trump’s tariff policies.
Trump is due to land in the UK on Tuesday evening, ahead of a welcome at Windsor Castle by King Charles, Queen Camila, Prince William, and Princess Kate.
The President is due to be treated to a military flypast, a full State banquet, and the opportunity to lay a wreath on Queen Elizabeth II's tomb. He will be accompanied on the trip by wife Melania.
Trump is set to sit down for political talks with Starmer during the visit.
