A west London stalker who made a woman’s life “a living hell” by watching her home and following her has been jailed for three years.

Craig Gibson, of Hounslow, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Friday.

He admitted all the charges, including causing damage to his victim’s house and breaching a suspended sentence for similar offences.

The court heard how Gibson stalked his victim, from Spelthorne in Surrey, over several months last year, persistently waiting and watching outside her home.

He followed her in his car whenever she left the house, sometimes taking photos of her car at different locations and sending them to her to show he always knew where she was.

In December last year, the 38-year-old smashed several windows at his victim’s home in a fit of rage.

Surrey Police said this “fixated pattern” of threatening behaviour resulted in Gibson’s arrest in January this year.

Detective Constable Lucy Stuttard, who investigated the case, said: “It is sheer relief that Gibson is now behind bars where he can’t continue to control, abuse and hurt the people around him.

“Gibson’s behaviour has made the life of the woman he targeted a living hell.

“He presents a high risk to women particularly as stalking can often be a pre-cursor to further harmful behaviour.”

DC Stuttard urged anyone who may be a victim of stalking to report it to police, saying officers have specialist teams to support victims.
