West Ham want Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic transfers to form new-look attack

West Ham will renew their interest in Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez this summer.

The Hammers are also interested in Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic but Manuel Pellegrini has made Gomez his No1 target as he looks to freshen up his forward options.

Gomez has a £43.5million release clause in his contract at Celta Vigo.

West Ham identified the 22-year-old Uruguay striker as their top target to replace Marko Arnautavic if he left in January. They opted against a move but Pellegrini and director of football Mario Husillos have been keeping tabs on Gomez since then.

Gomez has scored 14 goals in a struggling Celta Vigo side in Spain this season. He will be available for £22m if Celta Vigo are relegated from La Liga but they are three points clear of the relegation zone with one game to go and look set to stay up.

Mitrovic could also be targeted by West Ham after Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League.

The 24-year-old Serb looks certain to leave Craven Cottage but he is keen to stay in England.

Crystal Palace are also interested in Mitrovic, who scored 11 times for Fulham this season.

West Ham want to sign at least one striker this summer, with Andy Carroll expected to leave when his contract expires next month and the futures of both Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez uncertain.

Pellegrini has indicated he wants Arnautavic to stay but the Hammers boss wants Gomez to form part of a new-look front-line at the London Stadium.
