West Ham secured a huge London derby win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, edging their rivals 1-0 thanks to a second-half Michail Antonio goal.
David Moyes’ men moved into the top four of the Premier League with the home victory, making it back-to-back wins this week after their comfortable Europa League outing against Genk on Thursday. Tottenham, meanwhile, suffered their second straight loss, following their defeat by Vitesse in the Europa Conference League – also on Thursday. The result saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s team drop to sixth in the table, too, as the Portuguese’s time as Spurs boss continues to disappoint fans of the north London club.
While the match at the London Stadium largely lacked the fireworks that this fixture so often produces, Antonio provided the spark for West Ham celebrations in the 72nd minute, when he stuck out a leg to convert an Aaron Cresswell corner at the near post. It was Antonio’s sixth goal of the season – his fifth in the Premier League – and marked Cresswell’s third assist of the week after his contributions in the home win against Genk.
