West Ham striker Albian Ajeti 'to join Celtic on loan' as Neil Lennon looks to strengthen squad

Albian Ajeti is believed to be joining Celtic on loan.

The Swiss striker joined West Ham from Basel for £8m in August 2019, but failed to find the target in 12 appearances during his debut season.

Ajeti, who has 10 caps for Switzerland, failed to start a single game in the Premier League.

The Guardian today report that David Moyes does not factor Ajeti into his long-term plans and will allow him to join Celtic in a loan deal.

They say Celtic could sign him for £5m in 2021 if his loan move is successful.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon, meanwhile, has praised Leigh Griffiths as the striker's fitness improves.

Lennon left the striker out of the club's trip to France after he returned to training out of shape, but Lennon included him in the squad for today's friendly against Hibs and BBC Scotland quoted him yesterday as saying: "I gave him a bit of criticism while I was away.

"He's got himself in great condition. He needs a little bit of time in terms of his football. He will get some game time tomorrow.

"It's a great boost. It's the minimum requirement. He's got himself to a really good level, so it's important he maintains that because he will be an asset for us."
