West Ham 'put off' Declan Rice talks amid Manchester United links and more transfer rumours

West Ham United will put off having talks with any other clubs over Declan Rice, according to reports.

Manchester United have been linked along with Arsenal for the West Ham midfielder's signature this summer as speculation mounts over his future. Rice has a contract with West Ham until next summer, with the option of an extra year which is yet to be triggered.

The 24-year-old England international has spent his entire career with the Hammers after coming through the youth team ranks there. He has played more than 240 times for the London club and scored 14 goals and had become the club's captain.

BBC Sport now reports that the Hammers will not speak about the midfielder's future until the season has come to a conclusion. David Moyes' side are yet to mathematically confirm their top flight status.

Moyes admitted last week that there is a 'good chance' Rice could depart the club this summer. The midfielder has rejected efforts from West Ham to agree an extention to his time there.

Elsewhere, Erik ten Hag could turn to a familiar player from his Ajax days to reinforce United's midfield this summer. Fichajes reports that United would be interested in Mexican player Edson Alvarez for €50m.

However, United could face competition for Alvarez's signature. The publication claims that German side Borussia Dortmund are considering the player as a potential replacement for Jude Bellingham, should the England midfielder indeed move to Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer.

Alvarez has been at Ajax since the summer of 2019, when he moved to Amsterdam from Club America in Mexico. He has since played 145 games for Ajax and scored 13 goals for the Eredivisie outfit.
