West Ham news: Neil Etheridge decision, Darren Randolph talk, Karren Brady on transfer failings

With Friday night's disappointing loss away to Sheffield United beginning to fade in the memory, and Saturday's clash at home to Everton still some time away, things have been a little quiet at West Ham.

The bad news from the display at Bramall Lane other than the lack of points was the injury to Lukasz Fabianski, something that could force the Hammers into the transfer market.

Darren Randolph has been strongly linked with a move, and has reportedly undergone at least one medical with the Hammers - but there are thought to be some issues.

So another keeper is being linked with a move to the London Stadium, while vice-chairman Karren Brady was grilled on television about failings in the transfer market and the board's decision to sack Manuel Pellegrini.

Premier League round-up: Liverpool maintain lead

Take a look at the latest news from Stratford, including some transfer updates.

Darren Randolph latest

Things have gone quiet on Randolph's future.

Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate had hinted before his side's clash against Spurs that West Ham's attempt to sign Randolph could move on within the next 48 hours.

The Boro keeper has been strongly linked with a return to the Hammers , two-and-a-half years after leaving the club.

However, the Guardian have said that the Hammers are further examining Randolph's thigh injury which has kept him out of 12 of Middlesbrough's last 14 games.

football.London has been told Randolph would undergo a second examination and there were no concerns that a deal will collapse. But that has not stopped the rumour mill from turning.

Neil Etheridge links

Neil Etheridge has been left out of Cardiff's squad for the FA Cup third round replay against Carlisle on Wednesday night.

Speculation is growing about a possible move to West Ham with David Moyes targeting another keeper, and Randolph's move taking far longer than expected to complete.

Cardiff boss Neil Harris has stated that Etheridge has been withdrawn from the squad due to the transfer links.

"Neil won't travel to Carlisle, he won't be involved," Harris said.

"He's trained today and he's fully fit and doing great, smiling and everything.

"At the moment, what I know at this minute is speculation is rife. Neil's not going anywhere, there has just been a lot of speculation for a long time.

"He just needs to focus on playing football.

"I'm not saying he's not going to be involved with us at all between now and the end of the month, that's not the scenario at all.

"Just at the moment, we need to make sure he gets what he needs and being on the training pitch is as important as anything."

Brady Grilled

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has opened up on the club's poor start to the season.

The Hammers are just one point above the relegation zone and have won just six games in the Premier League so far this season.

As a result of their poor start, the club parted company with Manuel Pellegrini in December, and replaced him with former boss David Moyes.

And Brady has stated that this season's failures have affected the board, but says she is confident her side can turn things around.
