West Ham considering move for Cliftonville star as Man City’s Kalvin Phillips is linked

West Ham United are weighing up a potential move for promising Northern Ireland teenager Sean Moore.

First reported by The West Ham Way, understands the Hammers are considering submitting an offer to sign the versatile 17-year-old, who can play both as a winger on either side and as a full-back. The report suggests that a bid of £250,000 is being considered, with any move set to take Moore into the club’s academy, if it comes to fruition.

However, it is understood that such a move would be very unlikely to happen before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday (today) and instead, is being considered for the summer transfer window which opens at the end of the season.

Moore, who does not turn 18 until August, has played 26 times for Cliftonville’s first-team, including starts in each of their last nine league matches, scoring for them in their 4-0 win over Ballymena on Friday night.

It would not be the only time West Ham have signed young players from Northern Ireland. In the summer, the Hammers completed moves for midfielder Patrick Kelly and centre-back Josh Briggs from Coleraine and Linfield respectively.

Last January, they signed Northern Irish forward Callum Marshall from Linfield, as well as acquiring young centre-back Michail Forbes in Dungannon Swifts in July 2020.

On top of his minutes for the first-team, Moore also won his first two caps for Northern Ireland’s under-18s during two 2-0 home defeats to Austria in November 2022.

Elsewhere, The Sun have claimed that West Ham have expressed an interest in signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan. However, understands that is not the case.
