West Ham confirmed 11: David Moyes makes five changes to face Southampton amid Craig Dawson blow

West Ham United boss David Moyes has named his side to face Southampton at St Mary’s.

The Hammers will look to make it five wins from five in all competitions when they face Southampton on Sunday afternoon, having recorded wins over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and Anderlecht (twice) in the past 15 days.

As the Irons aim to make it three straight wins in the Premier League for the first time since January, Moyes has made five changes to face Saints from the team that beat Anderlecht 2-1 on Thursday night.

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is back in goal after being left out of the Hammers’ squad in midweek to be rested, with Alphonse Areola playing every minute in the Europa Conference League so far this season.

It appears to be a back five, with Vladimir Coufal and Emerson starting as wing-backs, as they did against Anderlecht.

Thilo Kehrer returns to play in a three-man defence alongside Ben Johnson and Aaron Cresswell, despite suffering a recent knock. Kurt Zouma (illness) and Craig Dawson (dead leg) both miss out, while Angelo Ogbonna (hamstring) only makes the bench.

Declan Rice returns to the 11 as captain and partners Tomas Soucek in the middle of midfield, with Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta keeping their places either side of Gianluca Scamacca up front.

Centre-back Nayef Aguerd (ankle) remains sidelined but has resumed light training, having been on the sidelines since pre-season. Winger Maxwel Cornet (calf) also remains out, having been forced off on his full league debut for the club against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has made two changes from the side that lost 4-0 to Manchester City eight days ago.
