West Ham have revealed that Angelo Ogbonna sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Liverpool.
The defender was substituted on 22 minutes after sustaining a cut to the face, though the club have since confirmed Ogbonna suffered ligament damage earlier in the game.
The Hammers recorded a 3-2 win at the London Stadium on Sunday as David Moyes’ team leapfrogged Liverpool in the table.
Defeat for Jurgen Klopp’s side saw the Reds miss the opportunity to close the gap on Chelsea at the the top of the Premier League and set a new club record of 26 games unbeaten.

Liverpool now head into the international break in fourth place, four points behind Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Despite recording a statement win over the Reds at the weekend, Ogbonna’s injury is disappointing news for West Ham.
The centre-back, who had been part of the VAR check over whether Alisson had been fouled in the build-up to his side's opener, was substituted midway through the first half.
When sprinting back towards his own goal in a foot race with Mohamed Salah, the 33-year-old slipped inside the box on 15 minutes and went down holding his knee.
However, the centre-back played on for another seven minutes and only left the pitch because of a facial injury after clashing with Diogo Jota.
“After being substituted following a separate incident that led to him suffering a cut above his eye, Angelo felt some discomfort in his right knee so we scanned him to ascertain the extent of the injury,” West Ham said in a statement .
“That scan has shown up some damage to the anterior cruciate ligament and we have begun his rehabilitation immediately.
“Angelo will see another specialist this week and we will then have a clearer picture around his timeline of recovery.”
