West Ham confirm contract decisions for trio ahead of Premier League run-in

West Ham have confirmed Jeremy Ngakia, Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Sanchez will all leave the club on June 30 at the end of their current contracts.

Ngakia's departure will grab the headlines after turning down what West Ham have said was a "significantly improved terms" to his contract however, Ngakia and his representatives rejected the proposals. Ngakia also turned down a short-term extension to remain at the club until the end of the season.

Manager David Moyes said earlier this month that Ngakia's departure was a "kick in the teeth" for the club after handing the right back his debut against Liverpool last year and has made four further appearances for the first team.

The Hammers said in a statement: "In line with our structure and policy, Ngakia was offered significantly improved terms to reward his breakthrough into the first-team squad this year, along with further contractual enhancements linked to his future progress and success.

"However, the player and his representatives declined to accept any of the offers, and also turned down a short-term extension until the end of the current season."

Ngakia has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Norwich and also to the Bundesliga after news emerged he wouldn't be signing a new deal.

An injury to Zabaleta has seen him decide not to take up the option mof a short-term extension until the end of the season. Zabaleta made 80 appearances for the Hammers after joining the club from Manchester City on a free transfer in 2017.

Zabaleta was the first choice right back the following season but lost his place to Ryan Fredericks when Manuel Pellegrini arrived, though the veteran Argentine has been a backup for the English defender for the last two seasons.

Reports claim that Zabaleta will return to Spain, potentially to Espanyol, to see out his playing career.

Sanchez was signed from Fiorentina in 2018 as a backup for Declan Rice in midfielder but has made just 18 appearances in claret and blue over two seasons, seeing his first campaign wrecked by a serious knee injury though he struggled throughout at Premier League level.

West Ham added in their statement: "The Club would like to thank Pablo, Carlos and Jeremy for their service and wish them well in their future careers."
