Wendy Williams is taking a break from her eponymous talk show to deal with fatigue and other symptoms of Graves' disease.
"Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves' disease which are causing fatigue," a spokesperson posted in a tweet. "In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment."
This is the second time Williams has taken a break due to her condition, according to Variety, which broke the news of this hiatus. She took a three-week break in February 2018 after announcing her diagnosis to fans. A separate break, due to shoulder surgery complications, came for six weeks in January 2019, Variety said.
The autoimmune disorder, in which one's immune system attacks the thyroid, is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism in the U.S., according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.
Williams went off air for a few weeks after the coronavirus pandemic started, then retooled and returned to the airwaves in April, broadcasting from her New York City apartment.
Fox television stations have renewed "The Wendy Williams Show" through the 2021-22 season, a total of 13 seasons, Variety said.
