Welsh teacher wins £125K on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire after using lifelines on 'easy' question

A primary school teacher walked away with £125,000 on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? last night - despite a lack of 'Disney knowledge'.

Viewers were shocked that Dan Huxley, from Wrexham, had to use two lifelines for a question about Finding Nemo.

The question, which was worth £8,000, asked which character in Finding Nemo and Finding Dory was mainly blue in colour - with host Jeremy Clarkson revealing the following four multiple choice options:

  • Marlin
  • Dory
  • Nemo
  • Bubbles

Dan admitted that he didn't know the answer and decided to use a phone a phone, hoping that his father Paul would have "accidentally" seen the characters with his grandchildren.

His dad wasn't sure of the answer either though and the contestant considered guessing the answer himself.

He instead used 50/50 which whittled the potential right answers down to two, namely 'Dory' and 'Bubbles'.

After the 50/50, Dan said he'd been "leaning towards" the former and selected this as his answer, which was, of course, correct.

Jeremy appeared to suggest that Dan should have known the answer as he's a primary school teacher, to which the contestant responded that it was "so embarrassing".

Viewers were shocked that he needed to use lifelines, with one saying they "can't believe" he didn't know it.

"Did this guy say he's a primary school teacher because I’m failing to understand why he doesn’t know what colour Dory is?" commented one viewer last night on Twitter.

Another said: "As a primary school teacher I'm not sure how it's possible to have not seen [those films]!"

"Genuinely pained that a primary school teacher doesn't know what Finding Nemo character is predominantly blue," another tweeted during the episode.

"Who has never seen Finding Nemo or Finding Dory?" another ITV viewer responded during the episode.

Another said he'd "wasted two lifelines on a blue fish," with one fan referring to the question as "so easy".

Whilst another commented: "Who the hell are these people who haven't watched Finding Nemo?"

Some viewers suggested that it's mainly parents who'll have seen the films, though it was argued in response to this that "surely watching Disney [films] is a primary school teacher's homework".
