England will be looking to win through to the last-16 of the World Cup when they face DR Congo in Atlanta.

Jannik Sinner will continue his Wimbledon defence against Nuno Borges while England take on India in a men’s T20 match at Chester-le-Street.

Here is what is happening in the sporting world on Wednesday – and where you can catch the action in the UK.

England face DR Congo in Atlanta looking for a win – and performance – to get their World Cup campaign firing again, with coverage on BBC One from 16:00.

Earlier on ITV 1 from 01:15, Mexico will face Ecuador with the winner destined to face either England or DR Congo in Mexico City in the last-16.

Belgium v Senegal on ITV 1 from 20:15 rounds off the World Cup action.

Sinner continues Wimbledon defence

Following his five-set epic against Miomir Kecmanovic on Monday, Sinner continues his Wimbledon defence against Nuno Borges, with coverage beginning on BBC One at 11:15.

Number eight seed Daniil Medvedev is also set to be in action against Daniel Merida, whilst Novak Djokovic takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas.

In the women’s singles, Aryna Sabalenka will face McCartney Kessler and Coco Gauff plays Solana Sierra.

In cricket, England take on India in a men’s international T20 match at Chester-le-Street, with coverage starting on Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event from 17:00.
