We've been saying Aldi and Lidl wrong for years

Love them or hate them, the fact is that discount German supermarkets are here to stay - and everyone is talking about them.

But apparently we may have been pronouncing the names of our favourite shops wrong for years.

According to  Kent Live,  some people like to drag out the first syllable of the name Aldi - effectively pronouncing it All-di.

But according to the retailer, the A should be short and sharp, like Al Murray - Aldi.

When it comes to Lidl, things are a little more complicated.

In Germany, where the brand started, it is pronounced Lee-dl.

But over here, the retailer says you should pronounce it with a short, sharp Li at the start. Li-dl (sounds like little)

Alles klar?
