If you’re a baseball fan, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Only the best teams remain. Every at-bat matters. And I no longer have to endure any Twins baseball. The playoff field seems top-heavy, but we ran the field through MLB The Show 25 to see who the game predicts will win it all. Here’s what happened.
Wild Card Round
The 2025 MLB Wild Card round featured some shockers, including the defending champions falling to this year’s Cinderella story. Three of the four series went to three games, which would mean some great baseball for fans. The Wild Card round featured the teams loaded with star power falling to the balanced teams that lack the big names of the Yankees or Dodgers. The Brewers can only hope that continues in the Division Series.

- Cincinnati Reds (6) defeated Los Angeles Dodgers (3) 2-1
Division Series
Enter the division champions that earned byes in the first round. The Division Series features some intriguing matchups, starting with the Red Sox and Blue Jays. In the National League, the Cubs and Brewers presents a great rivalry and a hurdle for the Brewers to overcome if they want to convince experts that their season wasn’t a mirage. But at the end of the Division Series round, the biggest takeaway is that Cinderella’s slipper is a perfect fit.
American League

This is utter insanity. The Reds, who made the playoffs on the final day of the regular season when the Mets lost to the Marlins (sorry, Mets fans), are headed to the Fall Classic. Cincinnati hasn’t been to the World Series since 1990. There, they will meet the Seattle Mariners, who have never been in the World Series. This matchup is incredibly unlikely, so don’t go running to place bets on it. But for the purposes of the simulation, this is fun.
World Series
- Cincinnati Reds defeated Seattle Mariners 4-3
Believe, Reds fans. You should name every street in the City after Tito Francona. The Cincinnati Reds, the team that could never quite break through, have won the World Series in our MLB The Show 25 sim. The series went seven games, so it’d be great TV if it happened.
There you have it. What is likely the most statistically unlikely result to the 2025 MLB playoffs happened in our sim. So you never know. And Reds fans, you should probably never say anything bad about MLB The Show again. Just saying.
