We simulated the Champions League final to predict Liverpool's fate with and without Roberto Firmino

Liverpool have the opportunity to win the biggest trophy in European football on June 1, as they take on Spurs in the Champions League final.

And with Roberto Firmino on his way back after a groin problem, Liverpool's chances have been given a boost.

Nevertheless, Firmino remains a doubt for the final for the time being, after missing the semi-final against Barcelona.

If he doesn't make it, it's likely Divock Origi will start in his place, but it would still be a big blow for Jurgen Klopp , or would it?

What would the score be with Firmino?

And, what would the score be without Firmino?

We used FIFA 19 to simulate both scenarios to see what would happen.

Spurs vs Liverpool on FIFA 19

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest injuries and suspensions, in the first simulation we included Firmino, in the second simulation, we took him out of the squad and replaced him with Origi.

Spurs used a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows; Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Sissoko, Winks; Son, Alli, Eriksen; Lucas.

Liverpool set up in their standard 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Firmino/Origi, Salah.

Spurs vs Liverpool - WITH Roberto Firmino

Even with Firmino fit, Liverpool faced a very tough game against Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino were very tough to break down, whilst also offering a significant threat on the counter-attack, with the pace of Lucas Moura.

At half-time it was 0-0, as neither side took too many risks.

In the second period the game opened up and there were chances for both sides.

Alli, Eriksen and Moura all went close on the break for Spurs, but Alisson kept the Reds in the game.

At the other end, Firmino was guilty of missing at least two good chances, with Salah and Mane marked out of the game.

But, in the 90th minute, Liverpool produced yet another iconic moment.

In the final seconds of normal time, instead of taking the corner, substitute James Milner lurked on the edge of the area.

The ball was rolled to him, instead of going in the box, much to the dismay of his teammates, but he took one touch and bent the ball into the far corner.

And, that's how it finished.

Surprisingly, Firmino was actually Liverpool's worst player in this sim, with just a 6.5 match rating

Spurs vs Liverpool - WITHOUT Roberto Firmino

(EA Sports)

Without Firmino, the game was pretty similar overall in the first-half, with Liverpool on the attack and Spurs holding firm, whilst offering a threat of their own.

However, on the 44th minute the Reds did create a good chance - and Origi made it count.

Receiving the ball to feet from Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Belgian turned Vertonghen, took one touch and smashed the ball past Lloris to make it 1-0.

In the second-half, with Spurs chasing the game, Liverpool ripped them to shreds.

James Milner scored in the 67th minute, whilst another sub Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also scored 10 minutes later, with Milner scoring again in the 90th minute.

Yes, that's right. Milner scores in the 90th minute in both sims, and here's the proof.

(EA Sports)

Is this an omen?

Without the injured Firmino, Liverpool beat Spurs 4-0 in the Champions League final.

(EA Sports)

Unsurprisingly, Origi was Liverpool's best player on the night, scoring and proving to be an absolute menace all game.

(EA Sports)

So, there you have it, with or without Firmino, FIFA 19 predicts that Liverpool will beat Spurs and win the Champions League.

It also predicts that the Reds will have an easier game if Origi plays, rather than Firmino!

No Firmino, no problem?
