We simulated Swansea vs Man City to get a score prediction for FA Cup tie

Manchester City are back in domestic cup action this midweek, as they face Swansea City in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday evening.

City are likely to rotate their squad for this FA Cup tie, particularly with the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur on the horizon.

Zack Steffan, Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte, Eric Garcia, Kyle Walker, Fernandino, Tommy Doyle, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres are just some of the names pushing for a place in the starting 11.

Sergio Aguero, Nathan Ake and Kevin De Bruyne are all set to miss out once again for Pep Guardiola's side.

So, what line-up will Guardiola go with against Swansea? And what will the final score be? We used FIFA 21 to get a score prediction. This is what happened...

Swansea vs City score predicted using FIFA 21

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 21 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Swansea could set up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, with the line-up as follows: Woodman; Naughton, Cabango, Guehi; Roberts, Hourihane, Grimes, Manning; Dhanda; Ayew, Lowe.

We predict that City could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: Steffen; Walker, Garcia, Laporte, Mendy; Silva, Fernandinho, Doyle; Sterling, Jesus, Torres.

It wasn't exactly a walk in the park for City in our FIFA 21 simulation, although they did enjoy the better of the early stages and took the lead just 21 minutes into the tie, with Torres getting on the end of a cross from Raheem Sterling.

However just seconds before half-time, Swansea got the goal that their play deserved.

The Swans had enjoyed a fair bit of possession since the goal and put together a flowing attacking move which eventually led to Jamal Lowe, who was afforded far too much space in the area, allowing the striker to curl an effort into the far corner to make it 1-1.

But the away side were much stronger after the break, helped by the introduction of Ilkay Gundogan, who helped Guardiola's side regain control of the tie.

In the 54th minute City were back in front and Sterling was again the provider, with the winger this time finding Bernardo Silva in the six-yard box who made it 2-1.

In the final half-hour, Swansea were arguably the better of the two sides, but they rarely troubled Steffan in the City goal.

Predicted FIFA 21 score: Swansea 1-2 City

Here are the full-time match stats.

FIFA 21 predicts that Manchester City may not have it all their own way on Wednesday evening, with Swansea more than capable of holding their own against a rotated Man City side, although the away side should still expect to progress.

What do you think the score will be on Wednesday?
