We simulated Celtic vs Rangers to get a score prediction in huge Celtic Park title clash

Celtic and Rangers go head to head for the fourth time this season as the Old Firm rivals face each other in the Scottish Premiership.

Since Michael Beale's first game in charge for Rangers in December, the nine-point gap between the Light Blues and Celtic has remained, with both sides winning every league game bar the 2-2 draw between the two sides in January. With the end of the season fast approaching, victory for Rangers on Saturday could potentially set up a tense run-in for the Hoops.

Saying that, recent history falls in Celtic's favour, with Rangers having only won one of the last seven meetings between the two sides. A win for Celtic would extend their lead at the top of the table to 12 points, and it seems almost impossible for Ange Postecoglou's side to lose the title from that position.

So, who will come out on top in the Old Firm derby on Saturday? We used FIFA 23 to try and predict the score, and this is what happened.

Celtic vs Rangers score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Rangers squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We expect that Celtic could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, Mooy, O'Riley; Jota, Kyogo, Maeda.

Predicted XIs for Celtic vs Rangers (EA SPORTS)

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Lundstram, Jack, Tillman; Cantwell, Morelos, Kent.

Celtic were dominant in the opening stages of the game, with Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota both being denied early on by some fantastic saves. Rangers barely got out of their own half in the first half, but with their first attack of the game, they took a surprise lead.

Todd Cantwell made it 1-0 to Rangers (EA SPORTS)

A one-two between Ryan Jack and Ryan Kent saw the latter surge down the left before firing a cross into the box. Curling away from goal, the ball fell perfectly at the feet of Todd Cantwell, and the Englishman placed his volley into the bottom corner of the net, giving Joe Hart no time to react.
Despite going a goal down, the hosts' confidence wasn't knocked as they continued to search for a second. Jota, Aaron Mooy and Kyogo all missed great chances once again in a frustrating attacking display, and with 20 minutes to go, a late challenge from Cameron Carter-Vickers awarded Rangers a penalty.

James Tavernier made it 2-0 to Rangers (EA SPORTS)

Alfredo Morelos beat the defender to a loose ball and was taken down in the process, leaving the referee no choice but to award a penalty. James Tavernier stepped up to take, and the defender sent Hart the wrong way to make it 2-0.
Carter-Vickers rattled the post in the 90th minute with a long-range strike, and it wasn't Celtic's day in front of goal as the Gers emerged victorious.

FIFA 23 predicted score: Celtic 0-2 Rangers

Here are the full-time match stats.

FT stats from Celtic 0-2 Rangers on FIFA 23 (EA SPORTS FIFA)

FIFA 23 predicts that Rangers could hand themselves a lifeline in the Scottish Premiership title race, winning 2-0 in the simulation. Despite Celtic dominating, a mix of poor finishing and good goalkeeping denied them any goals, with Rangers snatching the three points.
