'We need you' - Arsenal fans excited by Samuel Umtiti's Instagram response to Alex Lacazette

Arsenal supporters have once again taken to social media after Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti replied to Alexandre Lacazette on Instagram.

The France international's response has prompted excitement from fans, even though the January transfer window is closed, as many still harbour hope of the centre-back making the move to the Emirates Stadium in the near future.

On Friday, Lacazette made his first public comments following the Gunners' shock defeat against Olympiacos, a result which saw them dumped out of the Europa League at the round of 32 stage.

Arteta believes Aubameyang doesn't need titles to be considered world-class

"The reality of last night is hard but with your continued support we will learn from the situation, keep trying and continue to fight as a team," Lacazette wrote on Instagram.

To which Umtiti replied with a series of emojis.

Arsenal supporters then responded with messages such as 'we need you',' and 'come to real league bro, there is emotion in pl unlike la liga and u will enjoy' and 'welcome to Arsenal'.

With that said, Umtiti rejected the chance to join Arsenal in the January transfer window.

That's according to Le Parisien, as reported by Sport and the Daily Star as they claim that Barcelona were open to the idea of selling the centre-back last month.

However, Umtiti opted not to take up the offer to join the Gunners.

Furthermore, Umtiti spoke out about speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.

"Honestly, I don't know where this rumour with Arsenal came from," he said. "Overnight, I received messages from my friends 'ah, so you are joining Arsenal?' I'm not, I'm sorry but I'm staying at Barcelona.

"Contacts with Arsenal? To be honest, I don't know if they had conversations with my agent, I just told him that I didn't care what was happening this summer and that it wasn't even necessary to talk to me about it.

"It was useless, I was going to have the same answer. My dream as a child is to play for Barcelona.

"Last season was the most difficult of my career, especially in terms of injuries."
