'We have to do it' - Erik ten Hag makes Manchester United demand ahead of Everton clash

Erik ten Hag admits Manchester United simply have to get back to winning ways in the Premier League to restore the momentum that was lost in their derby day thrashing.

Ten Hag's side have won six of their last eight games in all competitions, with the sobering 6-3 thumping at the hands of rivals Manchester City their only league defeat in that period. United travel to Everton on Sunday evening (7pm) hoping to seal a second successive win after victory in Cyprus on Thursday night in the Europa League clash with Omonia Nicosia.

Speaking to the club's website, a bullish Ten Hag said: "It's not 'hope', we have to do it [beat Everton]. We have to first create a plan, and then extend it with desire, passion and high intensity and we have to be ready for kick-off on Sunday. And from the first minute, be in the game."

United face a stern test at Goodison Park, with Frank Lampard's side in fine form. The Toffees are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions and also boast the meanest defence in the Premier League, having conceded just seven times in eight games so far.

But Ten Hag sees it as an ideal chance to build momentum as they continue their hectic October schedule. He added: "You have to see it like this [positively] and face it like this, it is an opportunity to collect many points.

"We are playing in three competitions this month, and we have to go from game to game learning the lessons every time. Learn from it, move on, carry on and be prepared for the next game."
