Championship side Derby County are one of 13 clubs plotting a January move for out-of-favour Manchester United defender Phil Jones.
That is according to a report by The Sun who claim that the centre-back is the subject of interest from a whole host of clubs ahead of the transfer window opening in less than two months' time.
Jones, who joined United from Blackburn Rovers back in 2011, has not made a single first-team appearance since January 2020 because of injury and now faces an almighty challenge to force his way back into the fold at Old Trafford.
With his United future not looking overly promising, it is claimed that 13 clubs are queuing up to try and sign Jones in the New Year, including Derby, who, of course, are managed by United legend Wayne Rooney.
It is reported that Rooney is a big admirer of his former team-mate and would like to add him to his squad at Pride Park, in a bid to bolster his side's defensive ranks in the fight against relegation.
If Derby were to make a concrete move for Jones, they would be looking to sign him on a temporary loan deal.
Elsewhere, West Ham United have reignited their interest in re-signing United attacking-midfielder Jesse Lingard, a report by Eurosport claims.
Lingard, who has scored twice in the Premier League so far this season, spent the second half of last season on loan at the London Stadium and proved to be a roaring successes, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances.
The Hammers wanted to sign him on a permanent deal during the summer, but were unsuccessful in their efforts, with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to retain his services.
It is now claimed that Lingard is back on West Ham's radar ahead of January and that the England international is warming to the idea of a permanent Old Trafford departure.
Lingard is out-of-contract at United next summer, meaning the Reds may wish to cash-in on the midfielder, opposed to risking losing him for free next summer.
