Wayne Rooney's son Kai sees himself playing for Man Utd in Premier League in 10 years

Wayne Rooney’s son Kai says he sees himself playing in the Premier League in 10 years time - and that his biggest inspiration is his dad.

The 13-year-old is currently in Man United’s academy system. He said: “In ten years hopefully I will be playing in the Premier League for Man United …that’s where I see myself but I’ve got to make it happen with the hard work and everything behind the scenes.”

Quizzed who his biggest inspiration was by SY Football, he replied: “I know its a a bit boring but probably my dad as he’s helped me though some of the hard times and taught me a lot about the game, even just being in the car listening to him as a manager talking to all the players.”

Dad Wayne is a boyhood Everton fan, who joined the club aged nine and had two spells there. And Kai says he is following in his dad’s footsteps.

He said: “I support Everton. I know people might expect me to support Man United but it’s my dads team and I am from there. I have a love for Man Utd as well but my team is Everton.”

Asked what the highlights were of his fledgling career, he said: “My favourite moment was when I scored four against Liverpool …even though we lost, I was the main man and was running past defenders. But my best moment was when I scored an overhead kick against City, for the under 12s.”

Kai netted a whopping 56 goals in United already signed a sportswear sponsorship deal with Puma at just 12-years-old. Coleen also shares sons Klay, nine, Kit, six, and Cass, five, with husband and former England footballer Wayne.

Dad Wayne said he was delighted when he joined Man United. He added: “I’m delighted for him. He did have other options, other clubs to go to but he decided he wants to sign for Manchester United, so it was his decision and not mine.”
