Watford boss Xisco has told Ismaila Sarr that now is the moment to show everyone he belongs in the Premier League.

Sarr joined Watford in the summer of 2019 from Rennes for £30million, but he only spent one season in the top-flight as the Hornets were relegated.

Now the forward is back on the big stage and Xisco has urged him to seize the opportunity, starting on Saturday against Aston Villa.

“It is very good for him, he has a very good level. He is a very good player, he’s a top player,” said Xisco.

“Now is the moment for him to fight with the top players. This is the question. When you are a top player you want to stay with the select group of the Premier League.

“Now is the moment to try and give your best for the team. Now is the moment to show everyone what is our level, what is Sarr’s level, for example. This is the question.

“When you play against the best, you need - if you are the best - to show everyone. I want the best version of Sarr in the next game.

“Sure, he is a top player and I need him to give all his best in the next game, 100 per cent. If he performs to his best, sure we will enjoy [ourselves] because he is a top player.”
