A 21-year-old woman died in Limeira, Brazil, after being launched from a height of approximately 40 meters during a bungee jump activity without being connected to the safety rope, according to military police and witness accounts.

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, a physical education and sports management graduate, died at the scene at the so-called "Ponte do Esqueleto" (Skeleton Bridge), a location known for extreme sports in the interior of São Paulo state.
The accident occurred on Saturday morning. According to the Military Police, people on site reported that the safety equipment was not properly secured before the jump. The young woman was launched from the platform and fell approximately 40 meters, suffering multiple injuries. Paramedics and firefighters confirmed her death at the scene.
Shortly before the jump, Freitas posted a message on her Instagram stories. In a joking tone, she wrote: "Who was the crazy person who let me jump off a bridge?" Her Instagram profile was taken down hours after her death.
On social media, she used to share snapshots of her daily life, as well as posts related to physical activity, nature and well-being. She had recently graduated in Physical Education and Sports Management and was a resident of Jandira in Greater São Paulo.
