Watch: Unbelievable moment father captures ‘hissing’ alligator in wheelie bin

The extraordinary moment a man managed to capture an enormous alligator in a wheelie-bin has been captured on camera.

Former marine Eugene Bozzi, 26, spotted the beast, which had been roaming around his neighbourhood in Florida.

Approaching the reptile with the bin, Mr Bozzi managed to close the lid and trap the animal as it thrashed manically.

He then wheeled it away to the applause of watching residents.

Mr Bozzi told the New York Post his daughter had alerted him to the danger after she cycled past.

“My daughter was riding a bike, and she was like, ‘Hey, this big alligator just hissed at me!’” he said.

“I went over there, and it was bigger than me. There were other peoples’ kids out there, also. Military instinct kicked in - and, you know, ‘protect at all costs.’”

Mr Bozzi eventually managed to drag the alligator up a grass verge before freeing it in a nearby lake in Mount Dora, central Florida.

The daring rescue came months after a cyclist was attacked by an alligator as he slid off a path in a national park in the same state.

The cyclist was seriously injured after the alligator, about 9 feet long, grabbed him and bit him after he fell down an embankment.

The injured cyclist was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital.

Last year there were 12 incidents of alligators biting people in Florida, according to the Florida Wildlife Commission. None of them were fatal..
