WATCH: Texans CB Tavierre Thomas returns Chargers QB Justin Herbert interception for a touchdown

Cornerback Tavierre Thomas returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown to ice the game for the Houston Texans against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16 Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

The takeaway-turned-score gave the Texans a 41-23 lead over the Chargers with less than two minutes to play, essentially putting the nail in the coffin for Los Angeles, who could ill afford any misfortune in their pursuit for a wild-card playoff spot.

Thomas told reporters on Dec. 23 that his plan has always been to follow defensive coordinator Lovie Smith’s scheme.

“It’s Lovie so I just listen to him and he puts me in position to make plays, so I just go out there and try to make them,” Thomas said. “Hopefully I can make some this week.”

Thomas made the play, and Houston got the win 41-29.
