Say hello to Russell Wilson, the highest-paid player in NFL history. He and the Seattle Seahawks came to an agreement on their four-year contract extension late Monday night, settling on $140 million — including $107 guaranteed — plus a $65 million signing bonus.
But Mark Rodgers, Wilson’s agent, is quick to emphasize that while this is a great deal for both sides, it is still a compromise on Wilson’s end. After all, he did come to the negotiating table asking for a percentage of the salary cap rather than a set salary. That way, the quarterback would essentially get a raise every time the cap goes up.
While that is true — Wilson technically did have to compromise to get this deal done — we think he’s going to get along just fine.
