Patriots fans, you have your answer.
In the will-he-won’t-he conversation around a possible Rob Gronkowski comeback, the retired tight end confirmed on Tuesday that he is absolutely staying retired — for this season, at least.
The former New England Patriot made an in-studio appearance at WEEI in Boston, where he took calls from fans.
One fan insisted that Gronk give a definitive answer regarding his status for this season. Without hesitation, he said no, he will not return to the field this season.
“When I retired, I retired for a reason. Because I needed to step away. So it would be a no,” he said.
Gronkowski elaborated: “I keep [my answer] open because when I do say no, people are like, ‘Yeah, right. He’s kidding.’ In my mind, it’s a no.”
So, there you go.
