Watch NHS staff 'Go Home' message in performance to well-known 90s tune

NHS property services staff have re-imagined a well known 90s disco anthem to deliver an important message during the outbreak.

Staff at the the Ashfield Health and Wellbeing Centre performed their rendition of 'Go West' with a slight twist.

Originally by the Village People, the upbeat track was later covered by British synth pop duo, Pet Shop Boys in 1993.

The lyrics were changed to encourage the public to 'Go Home' and helped boost morale for the NHS property services who are non-clinical frontline staff, currently working to keep hospitals running, clean and safe through the outbreak.

Facilities coordinator, Karen Hall, who works for NHS Property Services filmed the team of frontline staff, domestics, porters and receptionists who took part in the renditon.

The video - which includes sing-along lyrics - shows staff performing while two metres apart, wearing face masks and gloves.

It included the lines, "Together, we must take a stand. Together, for the human race. Together for the NHS. Together we must do our best."

It also advised people to, "Go home, and play Monopoly. Go home, and watch your TV. Go Home, and do some DIY. Go Home, or you could bake a pie."

It also aims to highlight the importance and need to adhere to government advice for social distancing as we near the end of another week of lockdown.
