Watch Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron net his first goal for Paraguay

Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron has netted his first goal for his country to help inspire Paraguay's comeback victory against Jordan.

The 25-year-old attacker has struggled to make an impact for Steve Bruce's side so far this season.

But Almiron is now off the mark for Paraguay as the South American side turned around a two-goal deficit to seal a 4-2 victory in their friendly on Tuesday.

The visitors suffered a first-half to forget as two goals in the space of three minutes gave Jordan a comfortable lead at the break.

United's former record signing was introduced in the 68th minute of the contest as Paraguay trailed by two goals.

Six minutes later, Almiron levelled the scores after Oscar Romero pulled one back.

The former Atlanta United attacker found himself on the end of a teasing cross at the far post and headed home. He appeared to be injured in the process of scoring - but finished the match with no ill effects.

Goals from Roberto Rojas and Alejandro Romero completed the impressive comeback in the final third of the match.

Almiron has so far made 14 appearances for United in the Premier League since swapping the MLS for Tyneside.

Despite impressing alongside Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon in the "Three Amigos" last season, the Paraguayan has so far not registered a goal or assist for the Magpies.
