Watch: Irish National school release single to raise spirits as school year comes to an end

A County Meath primary school has released an original song hoping to raise moral as children continue to be without their peers during lockdown.

St Patrick's National School in Slane, Co Meath, worked to create an original song titled 'Thank You 2020' with both teachers and students in order to lift everyone's spirits.

With the end of the school year coming up these children are usually saying goodbye to their classmates as they go off on their summer holidays.

Teacher Kevin Fagan decided to start this project to let the children know that the school are still thinking of them.

He asked the children to record themselves remotely at home singing parts of the song that he had written.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror he said: "It's an original song I wrote and I had the kids record their vocals remotely and send them over so I could piece together this little message from teachers to students and from students to teachers.

"With the end of the year coming up the kids would be delighted if you could share."

In the video both students and teachers sing parts of the song while holding up the lyrics.

The video was posted on the schools Youtube Page saying: "A little message from our staff as we approach the Summer of 2020."
