Watch hundreds participate at anti-Trump rally in Dallas

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump (AP)

Despite the sweltering heat in Dallas, people turned out in their hundreds to protest the inflammatory comments Republican candidate Donald Trump has made during his campaign.

The protest was dubbed ‘Un Dia Sin Trump’, or ‘A Day Without Trump’ a play on words based on the film “A Day Without a Mexican.”

An activist addressing the crowds said “This America is black and brown, and this is what we’re about, we’re all united, we are one.“

Another protest is planned for when the Republican candidate arrives in Dallas next week.

From the outset of his campaign, Donald Trump has incited controversy by his words on immigration. When announcing his bid for the White House, he claimed that Mexicans crossing the border are “bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

The billionaire has also attracted strong criticism for his words concerning women, which was highlighted most prominently in the Republican debate by Megyn Kelly.

Mr Trump responded to the Fox News Presenter’s grilling by accusing her of being not ”very good or professional”, tweeting that “you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.”
