WATCH: Highlights of new Jags QB Gardner Minshew

The Jacksonville Jaguars wrapped up their 2019 NFL Draft class Saturday and acquired another signal-caller this offseason when they selected Washington State’s Gardner Minshew with pick No. 178 in the sixth-round.

Saturday marked the second consecutive year the Jags have drafted a developmental quarterback in the sixth-round as they also acquired Tanner Lee last year. Now, the two will battle it out for the No. 3 spot behind Cody Kessler and make their case for a practice squad or bubble roster spot.

Minshew is a prospect who the Jags praised for his intelligence being that he killed the interview process with them. He was also highly productive on the field under Mike Leach’s air raid offense, finishing his senior campaign 468-of-662 (70.7 percent) for an impressive 4,776 passing yards and 38 touchdowns.  Those stats were good enough to land him in fifth place during the 2018 Heisman race, which was ultimately won by Kyler Murray.
