Investigations are underway in to a blaze which gutted partially-built homes at a new development in East Kilbride.
Video footage captured by locals showed flames lighting up the sky in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Benthall Farm development in the Lindsayfield area of the town.
Emergency crews raced to the scene but thankfully there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
It is understood extensive damage was caused to affordable housing being built on site.
A spokesman for developer, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, told Lanarkshire Live : “We can confirm a fire damaged four properties under construction within the build area of our Benthall Farm development in East Kilbride on Saturday, June 5.
"No residents or homeowners have been impacted and we are working with the relevant authorities while investigations take place to fully understand the circumstances regarding the fire.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were alerted at 1.42am on Saturday, June 5 to reports of a property on fire at Benthall Farm, East Kilbride.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire which was affecting properties under construction.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
