WATCH: David Ortiz will be a studio analyst for Fox during playoffs

This summer was a scary one for Boston Red Sox great David Ortiz, but the former slugger will still return for a third season with Fox Sports as a postseason MLB analyst after recovering from being shot point blank in the back on June 9th.

Ortiz underwent three surgeries after the incident at a night club in his native country, the Dominican Republic. First, he had an emergency surgery nearby, then underwent two more operations at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has regularly kept fans and the sports community updated with updates via his wife Tiffany, through the Red Sox organization and on social media.

On Twitter Tuesday, Ortiz shared a picture of himself, Kevin Burkhardt, Frank Thomas and Alex Rodriguez on a Fox set with the caption, “Soon.”

Ortiz played 14 seasons with the Red Sox, leading the team to three World Series, but will be the organizations main representation this postseason as the team missed the playoffs this year after winning the 2018 World Series Championship.
