Four days after Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family escaped a burning plane, the retired NASCAR driver shared his thoughts on the event.

Along with his wife Amy and 15-month-old daughter Isla, Earnhardt’s dog and two pilots climbed out of the plane headed for Bristol Motor Speedway after it bounced off the runway.
The 44-year-old and his family went home to North Carolina after the crash. In his statement, Earnhardt expressed gratitude for having been extended privacy as he and the family process the event privately.
“We are truly blessed that all on board escaped with no serious injuries,” the statement said.
