Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo scripts history, breaks Gerd Muller’s 42-year-old record

NEW DELHI: Talismanic striker Cristiano Ronaldo has a plethora of records to his name and on Tuesday he made one more entry in the record books, breaking a 42-year-old record set by German’s legendary forward Gerd Muller.

Ronaldo scored his 145th headed goal and became the highest goalscorer through headers. He surpassed Muller’s previous tally of 144 goals.

Muller, who gave up playing in 1981, aged 36, last played for Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the North American Soccer League.

This was Rondaldo's 839th career goal, with the 38-year-old scoring for the 22nd consecutive season.

Rondaldo's goal started Saudi club Al Nassr’s comeback, with the team beating US Monastir 4-1 in an Arab Club Champions Cup at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

The third player on the elite list is Spain's Carlos Santillana, who has scored 125 goals through headers followed by legendary Brazilian Pele who has 124 goals to his name.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 after ending ties with English Premier League giants Manchester United.
