WATCH: Celtics rookie Payton Pritchard scores 14 points vs. Chicago Bulls (4/19)

While he clearly would have preferred to have had such a game in a win, Boston Celtics rookie point guard Payton Pritchard had one of his best games of his inaugural season in the NBA against the Chicago Bulls in Monday’s 102-96 loss to the Windy City franchise at TD Garden.

The former Oregon standout put up 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, in a start necessitated by a non-COVID-19 illness decimating the Celtics’ guard rotation. Veterans Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart were late scratches for a contest, and Evan Fournier was already out.

The thin backcourt proved too much to overcome for Boston, but the first-year floor general showed flashes why the Celtics elected to draft him this past offseason.

Watch the video embedded above produced by Tomasz Kordylewski to see his highlights from the loss to the Bulls while we wait for the team’s next contest to roll around next Thursday, when Boston faces the Phoenix Suns.
