Watch brazen Kilmarnock louts snort white powder off table at packed McDonald's restaurant

Two men who were caught snorting white powder at McDonald’s have been jailed.

David McDowall, 43, and Craig Scoular, 38, appeared from custody at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today.

And the pair admitted that on March 29, at McDonald’s in the town's Armour Street, they conducted themselves in a disorderly manner and did, whilst under the influence of an unknown substance, consume a quantity of white powder, believed to be a controlled drug, and commit a breach of the peace.

Prosecuting, Asif Hussan told the court the men sat at the front of the “heavy-populated” restaurant and CCTV footage captured the incident.

The footage was shown to the court which clearly shows members of the public walk past the table which McDowall and Scoular are leaning across.

Shortly after observing the men, a young girl approaches a member of staff and warns her of McDowall and Scoular’s behaviour.

Young kids can be seen standing at the table and in the doorway watching the men, who are totally unaware of their surroundings, take turns at snorting the white powder – believed to be an illicit substance.

A male, who was within the restaurant, is then seen to assist with escorting McDowall and Scoular from the fast-food chain.

Defence solicitor John McCluskey explained both of the men “are completely embarrassed” after the incident was covered in the media.

Mr McCluskey went on to say that the two men, both described as residents of St Andrew’s Hostel in Kilmarnock, had “little recollection” of the incident and had been released from a prison just a week prior to this.

Sentencing, Sheriff Michael Hanlon said: “This was a blatant, very public offence that took place within a family restaurant where children and children of a pre-school age could see this going on.”

Sheriff Hanlon sentenced the two men to six months imprisonment to be served consecutive to any present sentence.
