WATCH: Bears rookies and quarterbacks hit the practice field at training camp

The Chicago Bears welcomed back rookies and quarterbacks to Halas Hall for the start of training camp this weekend. Rookies and quarterbacks reported on Saturday and hit the practice field for the first time this summer on Sunday.

No doubt one of the most talked about stories at training camp will surround the unofficial quarterback competition between already-named starter Andy Dalton and rookie Justin Fields. While Matt Nagy has insisted that Dalton will be the starter come Week 1, things can change between now and the start of the regular season, which is exactly why all eyes will be on Dalton and Fields.

Chicago also is bringing a highly-touted rookie draft class to training camp, which features Fields and a slew of other players who could make immediate impacts as rookies.

When veterans report, offensive tackle Teven Jenkins will get his first taste of Khalil Mack and this Bears pass rush, which will be beneficial for Chicago’s new left tackle. Running back Khalil Herbert and receiver Dazz Newsome, who is recovering from a broken collarbone, could make an immediate impact on special teams as return specialists.

Cornerback Thomas Graham Jr. and offensive tackle Larry Borom will battle for starting jobs at slot corner and right tackle, respectively. While defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga will get some valuable work with Chicago’s dominant defensive line.

The Bears Twitter account shared a short highlight video of the first day of practice for the rookies and quarterbacks. And while it’s sure to leave fans wanting more, it’s exciting to see practice footage once again.
