Watch as protester throws orange confetti at George Osborne's wedding

JUST Stop Oil told George Osborne he "looked good in orange" as confetti similar to that used by the protest group at Wimbledon was thrown on the former chancellor at his wedding to long-term partner Thea Rogers.

As Osborne, 52, and Rogers, 40, left the church as the bells rang, a smartly dressed woman threw orange confetti from a Union flag paper bag over them.

Osborne looked behind him as she approached the couple before throwing the confetti over the groom.

The grey-haired woman, in a floral dress and pale coloured jacket, emptied the bag of confetti near the couple before she left after being spoken to by two men.

The couple looked puzzled but didn’t appear to speak to the woman who fled quickly when approached by journalists.

The orange confetti appeared to be similar to that scattered by Just Stop Oil protesters at Wimbledon on Wednesday and the group tweeted a video of the woman throwing the confetti.

However, the organisation has said the woman is not part of the group.

Around 200 people, including well-known politicians and journalists, joined the couple on their wedding day.

The former chancellor of the exchequer married his former aide at the 14th-century St Mary’s Church in the Somerset village of Bruton where they own a property.

Former prime minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha, former chancellor Sajid Javid and Levelling-Up Secretary Michael Gove were among those who attended the service.
