Washing machine goes up in smoke in Dublin home as Fire Brigade issue stern warning

Dubliners have been warned to never leave household appliances unattended after a washing machine went on fire last week.

Members of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

Firefighters warned Dubliners to never leave their home while a washing machine is turned on and to regularly check manufacturers websites for recall notices.

Dublin Fire Brigade said on Twitter: "Has the washing built up over the mega-long bank holiday?

"We advise you to never leave your home while a washing machine or tumble dryer is on.

"Have you checked the manufacture websites for safety recalls recently? Firefighters dealt with a washing machine fire last week."
