Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 is completely transforming the movement meta and the tactical gameplay across Battle Royale and Resurgence. From the introduction of game-changing traversal tools in core playlists to the first-ever Big Map rotation system and weapon adjustments, players have to quickly adapt to stay ahead on the battlefield.

Here’s a rundown of all the important details from the Warzone Season 3 patch notes.

One of the biggest highlights in Warzone Season 3 is the arrival of Grappling Hooks and Wall Jump in Battle Royale and Resurgence. Both mechanics are now fully integrated into the traditional playlists after receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback during their trial runs in limited-time modes.

These movement features enhance skill expression and provide new traversal options across the vertical landscapes of Verdansk, Rebirth Island, and other maps, allowing for aggressive flanking and rapid repositioning. It’s worth noting that Wall Jump remains disabled in the Gulag to maintain the competitive integrity of one-on-one respawn duels.

Big Map rotation featuring Verdansk and Avalon

With Avalon entering Battle Royale in Warzone Season 3, the much awaited Big Map rotation will be rolled out in-season. Both Avalon and Verdansk will rotate on a 10-minute timer, similar to how Resurgence playlists currently operate. This change ensures that the gameplay remains fresh throughout a single session.

Avalon is set to feature a refreshed Gulag, featuring three distinct variants: the lane-centric Server, the asymmetrical Cryo, and the frantic, office-themed Meeting. These arenas include proximity-based automatic doors and non-breakable security glass to improve tactical visibility and readability during respawn fights.

Verdansk isn’t being left behind, as it introduces a new point of interest, the Launch Pad, which replaces Hills. Located south of Promenade along the shoreline, this massive facility consists of a Control Tower, Hangar, and Gantry. It serves as the origin point for missile-based public events that can impact the map in real-time.

For Resurgence Ranked Play, Haven’s Hollow and Rebirth Island now rotate evenly, with each map having an equal chance of being selected per match. This adjustment increases variety while also serving as a testing ground for expanded rotation systems in future seasons.

Ranked Play also comes with a set of restrictions to maintain competitive balance. Attachments like Akimbo, Nembus Sticky Launcher, Vulture Underbarrel, and Explosive Crossbow, and Bunker Buster Killstreak, Deadeye Drone Killstreak, and certain public events have all been disabled in the mode.

New weapons plus major buffs and nerfs

Warzone Season 3 introduces three new weapons at launch: the MK35 ISR assault rifle, the VST submachine gun, and the Strider 300 sniper rifle. All these arsenal additions are expected to quickly contend as meta weapons.

Meanwhile, the Season 3 weapon balancing update aims to disrupt the long-standing Warzone meta by adjusting several top-tier performers and underused assets. The DS20 Mirage and MXR-17 ARs have received significant damage range buffs, making them much more viable for long-distance engagements.

Conversely, the Voyak KT-3 has been hit with a substantial nerf, seeing its bullet velocity and max damage range reduced while its horizontal recoil was increased. Popular recoil control attachments for the Voyak have also been tuned down to prevent it from dominating the mid-range combat situations. The Swordfish A1 marksman rifle has seen its handling take a hit, with nerfs to its sprint, slide, and dive-to-fire speeds.

In the SMG class, the meta Razor 9mm has been hit with nerfs to both handling and damage range, while the Ryden 45K has seen its damage multipliers reduced. Aggressive players looking for alternatives might find success with the Carbon 57 and Kogot-7, both of which have received improved handling via attachment buffs.
